Child Talks 2024
The Ombudsman for Children’s annual “Child Talks” event, held in celebration of World Children’s Day, provides an empowering platform for children to share their perspectives on issues that matter most to them.
The event took place at The Helix on the Dublin City University campus, drawing a full-house audience of 1,000 children. Beyond the powerful and inspiring presentations, the day featured a lively program of entertainment, including music, science demonstrations, and mesmerising magic performances.
To extend the reach and impact of the event, it was live-streamed nationwide on the Ombudsman for Children’s Office (OCO) website, ensuring children and families across the country could join the celebration.
Value Delivered
AVCOM was entrusted with the event design, managing the technical production and execution of the “Child Talks” event. The challenge was to create a welcoming and adaptable stage environment for young presenters while ensuring the event’s reach extended nationwide through a high-quality live stream.
- Stage Design
AVCOM’s Design team employed a child-centred approach, focusing on creating a supportive and inclusive environment for the young speakers. The stage design embraced elements of “organised chaos,” simulating a familiar, informal setting to help presenters feel at ease while encouraging open communication. - Live Stream
A key priority for the Ombudsman for Children’s Office was to extend the event’s reach beyond the venue. We delivered a multi-camera livestream, including a mobile camera for close-ups of magic tricks and live entertainment. This approach enhanced engagement and ensured an inclusive and enjoyable online experience for viewers nationwide. - Creative Design
We collaborated with the Ombudsman for Children’s Office to integrate their brand identity and vibrant colour palette into the stage environment and on-screen graphics. Biodegradable decals were used to incorporate branding into the set design, aligning with the event’s sustainability goals. - Event Planning and Execution
An Event Producer was assigned to oversee coordination between the client, venue, and internal teams. This role ensured seamless communication and meticulous planning, keeping all stakeholders aligned and guaranteeing the smooth execution of the event.
